And that is a relief. It's a long story, but I did get a teaching job. The past few weeks have been a blur, and the full story is actually hard to believe. Nevertheless, seemingly insurmountable obstacles eventually fell into place. I am now an elementary teacher, and I am teaching something other than English to boot. It's definitely not the path I ever thought I would traverse, but it's the path I am on now regardless - and it's a fun adventure so far. The best part about this adventure is that I am working with an *amazing* group of people and for an *amazing* school.
Thank you so much for sending your positive thoughts and prayers my way. Let the adventure begin!

So, your progression has been college, high school, elementary? Next stop: preschool. After that, you will be prepared to attempt middle school.
Sorry we missed you in Bend! We got the full story from CLA. Very excited about your cool gig!
Jana, I am so happy to hear this! I checked here a day or so ago to see if there was any news and was saddened to see none. Now I know you were just too busy to write! That's wonderful!
Oh, and by the way, I taught high school English for years before returning to elementary school. I loved it!
peter - isn't that a funny progression for sure? Yes, I'll have to try my hand at preschool first so I'll know *exactly* how to deal with those middle schoolers.
You and I - we are ships passing in the night! Funny thing is that we will probably see each other more now that I am back in Texas. One thing is for sure, I really want to write again and I'm happy that I'll now have a chance to do just that. :) Any chance you have to attend a convention in Texas this next year?
karen - yes, busy is an understatement! I arrived in Texas on a Saturday night, had to take a certification test on a Sunday, and then I started work Monday morning (hoping an praying all along that I passed that test!). Somehow I unpacked some stuff, and then I spent the last week in Houston for in service training. I will miss teaching high school English, but I'm kind of excited to be doing something new and different!
congratulations! everybody wins!
