Just this side of
Just this side of
ever on the verge
yet never crossing over
never quite enough
never
never
running through, breaking past
on the fringe
on the cusp
unable to pierce the veil
tear down that which is invisible
yet cements
fixes
defines
but not quite embodies.
stand exposed; lay yourself bare
fillet from top to bottom and hope
it will be enough
even though experience whispers something
different
while you stand
just this side of.

Is this about your students? Nice poem in any case...

Very nice! Maria thought of your students; I thought of your running. The wonderful thing with poetry is that we're both wrong -- and we are both right.

I really like the repetitions.

You are correct, Karen - you are both wrong. And right. :) While my inspiration was neither of your guesses, I suppose both would work... or the meaning could be something completely different for the reader.

But I did have something in mind when I wrote this... although I'm not telling... yet... :)

A lovely poem Jana. Though its inspiration shall remain a mystery. :)

Was something wild you wanted to do, almost did, but then something held you from giving the final blow?

also a good guess, lol! While it's off he mark, it does sound like a good inspiration for one of your stories... :)

Well yes it does make a nice plot doesn't it? :-)

And you are so loving to see us busting our heads over this one, aren't you? lol
