I should say something.

I know I should. Really, I want to say something. Worth reading. So when I am not so darn tired, I will write about...something. Such as the exploits in coaching soccer for my oldest daughter's team. Or the fact that I just found out that one of her teammates is the daughter of this guy (I should have had a clue when we practiced soccer one afternoon at their house...on their baseball field - the baseball field they made on one of the lots they own adjacent to their house).

No SHIT! Jeff Kent is a Cal grad. I think I saw him play in college. I followed his career with great interest until he defected to the Dodgers, which is an Unforgivable Sin. Tell him I said "hi". And that I'm glad he's got his daughter into a real sport.

I am not a star follower, as I'm sure you know, and you already know that I pretty much hate professional baseball and all it stands for (and no it does not stand for America)... but such a successful Cal grad athlete is someone I think it'd be wicked cool to meet.

Yeah, Poetroad and I wondered if you knew him (or knew of him) since he is a Cal alum too. We didn't read great things about him online, but his family - especially his wife - is really nice. You would NEVER guess his salary just by interacting with the family. The wife is a SUPER person (down to earth and not pretentious at all) and looks like a normal no-make-up wearing but very cute sporty soccer mom. And our daughters are friends. His daughter came to my daughter's birthday party! All the while, I had no idea that this girl had such a famous dad...

Also, they live fairly modestly in light of his yearly income, which I really respect. They live in my neighborhood, but not in a gated community (and there are several gated communities around here). Granted, their house is probably one of the nicest houses on their block, but the rest of the houses on their block are million dollar homes too. Anyway, it makes me wonder how many other famous people live in this neighborhood...

I'll tell him "hi" from you when I see him - although I think he is busy with spring training right now. :)
