Seeing...

Tonight as I close my eyes,
forgetting what has transpired,
looking beyond the last frame
ignoring the creak and tremble
siren, rush, and electric hum,
releasing until unrestrained -
I will fling myself and tumble
head first into
inspiration

Check out Dave King's thoughts at Pics and Poems in his post Kandinsky did it first...(and read the post he references too) in regard to Wassily Kandinsky. Actually, Kandinsky is really a catalyst for King's thoughts about creating with eyes shut tight.

Along that same vein, I've often found that I am feverishly creative in the last moments before I drift off to sleep or right before I become fully conscious just as I am waking up. Some of my favorite pieces have been scribbled on whatever scraps of paper I can find on my nightstand, in fact. Perhaps I need to tap into that more - to value the artist's vision more when I am seeing with my eyes shut tight.

Sometimes I wake thinking I have a poem in my head and I can't quite pull it out. I know what you mean about about those moments before sleeping and waking...

I love the idea of flinging one's self head first into inspiration:)

Beautifully written. Thoughts race like anything in those half conscious moments. I've made all the major decisions of my life in those moments. :P

We all need to look beyond the last frame once in a while. Keep inspiring. :)

Very nice sensory poem. I'd say which lines I like, but I like them all!

My problem with inspiration is that it often comes when I cannot get to a pen, so I try to attend to my environment while I repeat the lines in my head. Unfortunately, when I later try to retrieve, they're gone.

There's a great book called 3 A.M. Epiphany, that's full of writing prompts & helps for just such inspiration.

I've threatened to put a small tape recorder by my bed may times.
